BizkaiUP will offer information on the occupancy of beaches and an augmented reality system to measure social distancing.

The BizkaiUP mobile app will introduce services including access to update information on the occupancy of beaches, such that those people who wish to visit them can see whether, due to the measures adopted as a result of the pandemic, the beach is closed because it is at maximum capacity or near to this situation.

They may also consult habitual information on such beach services as the bathing flag colour, the weather forecast, the water temperature, the wave levels, the level of occupancy of car parks, tide timetables, etc.

In addition, a new augmented reality system will be introduced that will allow, as a guideline, the recommended social distance to be measured in real time to avoid the spread of COVID-19.

By using this system, a series of coloured circles will be superimposed on the real images that will approximately indicate the most appropriate safety distance.
